These are professional quality high-bandwidth signal baluns which allow you to send an HDMI video signal over CAT5e or CAT6 networking cable to a TV which is not located next to your video source.Atlona is a professional brand that has been doing this kind of thing for long enough that they understand how to do things properly. There are a number of big plus points to this unit: - Excellent build quality - made from sheet steel with quality connectors and a decent power supply - This is way up the chain from your average fifty dollar made-in-china bargain basement device, and the quality shows. 1080p works properly and sync issues are almost non existent if you use high quality HDMI cables. - This model incorporates the ability to send Ethernet over the same connection, as well as IR for control of your remote cable box or BluRay player etc. Hide the balun behind a wall mounted TV, place an emitter on the source device, an IR receiver on the corner of the TV or just above it, and you can then point your cable remote at the TV and have it operate the source device without you having to get up. - Atlona's warranty program is fast and effective, operated by real human beings for whom English is their primary language. - Home grown tech company with top tier productsI do this for a living and Atlona is my brand of choice whether it's me paying for the product or someone else. Sometimes it's just worth paying that bit extra over the cheapest option in order to simplify your life!
