The Shape Shifter!!!! I'm seriously addicted to Amon Amarth now because of that song. AA has been appearing in my recommendations for quite awhile now but I always just ignored. Which is quite weird because the overall theme of Norse mythology should have attracted me instantly. I love mythology as a subject and to have a whole series of albums devoted to should have gotten me listening to AA sooner. But whatever I am here now thanks to hearing Shape Shifter somewhere. I got DOTG right away and found it awesomely interesting. Subject matter aside (being about Loki very interesting) because that already scored major points with me, I love the intensity of the music and vocals, very heavy but yet still very clear. I've read it called melodic death metal, not sure if that really fits or not, so I'll just keep calling it awesome. I will now do my usual backtracking through the band's entire offerings.I don't think I have to mention what my favorite track is as it's painfully obvious. lol I love every other song on here with only one slight negative spot. I enjoy the song Warriors of the North but I always feel like it is too long and that when it feels like it is over, it is getting ready to start again. For that reason I tend to listen to about half or just skip it. I'll give special mention to the song Hel, as it is really good but done in a different style than everything else on here. That makes it stand out from the pack which IMO is always a good thing. Quite a haunting song.So to sum up, I'm hooked on this band now and will stay with these guys for some time to come. Highly recommend this album and if you are like me and have it in your recommendations and have yet to go for it, please do so now.
