Description

The Radial JDI Stereo is the professional pive direct box you can rely on whether you're touring stages or laying down tracks for your next EP. Using the same signal path that secured the original JDI's place on concert equipment riders the world-over, the JDI Stereo gives you two channels of input, two channels, of output, and sound-shaping-at-the-source control. At GearNuts we see it as a great choice for keyboard, guitar, and b players who need the I/O for stereo amp rigs or using multiple instruments. Rugged steel construction on the outside and Radial's award-winning engineering on the inside means your JDI Stereo will be there for you for many gigs to come.

After finally getting to use it, I absolutely believe that this is by far the best passive DI box available. It has completely eliminated (not partially) the sounds caused by the terrible ground loop I have in my house. This ground loop is not of the usual type that just causes "hum", it causes a high pitch tone, beeps, and clicks! It's quite terrible and there is no way to solve it, it's something in this entire city's stupid electricity system. So the only solution when there's no balanced alternative to your unbalanced unit (for example, an analog synthesizer), is a passive DI box. The "ground lift" feature that some units have has no effect whatsoever in this case.So the JDI completely eliminates this ground loop WHILE HAVING NO AUDIBLE EFFECT on the signal. The frequency response and the overall sound is essentially identical. This is with an "active" source - that is, signal coming from a powered unit, not an acoustic instrument like a bass guitar. It should perform pretty well even with non-powered sources, and I've listened to some good samples, but the company rightfully mainly recommends this unit for signal coming from powered units, because that's where it performs optimally. No distortion, high volume level, everything is perfect.Unfortunately, while the overall quality of the JDI is as high as it gets, it's still incredibly overpriced. The single channel version absolutely should not cost $200, and even the $300 the "Stereo" (it's really "dual-channel") version which is the one I got, should NOT cost $300. It's pretty crazy. But I had no choice because I can't afford to inflict any noticeable degradation on the audio signal. I'm not happy with this price, because it's absolutely not a FAIR price, and that's why I would never recommend the JDI units to anyone unless I know they're in exactly the same situation as I am.
