I got Beats SoloHD headphones earlier this year. At the time, I thought they sounded fantastic! I thought they were comfortable! Man, was I wrong...When you hear these headphones, it's like you're pulling earplugs out of your ear for the first time. There is significantly less bass than the Beats, yet if you fiddle with the EQ in your audio player you can still bring it to the forefront.I've had these plugged into a home theatre amp, my android phone, and my computer with a Xonar DGX sound card. There is a very noticeable difference between my phone and the two powered sources.On my phone, I can max the volume out and still not be anywhere near ear bleeding levels. With the Beats, even though they have a higher impedance, I was able to reach painful levels with my phone.Plugged into the amp or computer (sound card has a built in headphone amp), these things really open up, even at lower volumes. It's easy to tell the difference between mp3 and FLAC files.I bought these primarily for video games. In Battlefield 3 and the Battlefield 4 beta, positioning is AMAZING. The Beats were extremely muddy/muffled even when I EQ'd the bass down. The AD700x, however, is crystal clear.Comfort: These things are "self-adjustable" but they self-adjust on the loose side. Aside from that, they are very light and are unnoticeable even after hours of use.Don't even think twice about these. Get them!
