Stephane Pompougnac was one of the most prolific and interesting record/disc reconstructionists during his era that he was probably peerless. I had some of his production work but decided back in 2009, I think, to just get the complete collection. One problem, with so much music there are some not so great songs on the 10 discs. I'd say 95% of the music is awesome than there is the rest. That's a good percentage of good music; from my teaching days I would say that is an A. Much of the music is Latin based with a lot of rhythm. It's like dance music you might hear in a Miami hot spot. Titles like " La Neblina del Verano" and Cubafro con Amigos" exemplify this sporadic theme from disc 1. Not to be missed is an appearance by Grace Jones, her of the crew cut look and androgynous, threatening boundaries demeanor, super hip, Argentinian themed song entitled "Libertango" with it's clashing rhythmns that mesh beautifully, a mix of electro tango that sets your feet to taping to the infectious beat. If you're into this type of music you may be familiar with the song from Bajofono. This collection of music is where you will find various genres that are bent to dance rhythms. It is an intense collection of world music and world beat under one dance floor. There is so much good music here that it is definitely worth revisiting or adding to your collection if you can find it. I know there are complaints about the velvet casing but it is very cool for storage; after all isn't most music stored in the cloud. besides that is what cleaning clothes for disc are for; a minor inconvenience for a super collection stored in a cool set of drawers. Get this if you missed it before as you will have discovered music for hours on end and days and days; if you like music to chill late night, or finish the party with than get this collection.
