ABC CANOPY CANTILEVER UMBRELLAI purchased the 11 Ft, 360 degree rotation, round umbrella for my 10x12 ft deck. It does not come with a weighted base. It comes with a light weight aluminum cross bars that you will need to secure with a weighted base. I did not want a bulky base so I purchased a Purple Leaf steel plate base, see pic, for my ABC canopy cantilever umbrella. I wanted to attach it securely to my upper deck without having a tripping hazard and it worked perfectly.Getting it all together went smoothly in spite of the assembly instructions being pictures rather than instructions. Although I did this solo, a second set of hands is recommended to set the main umbrella section onto the base. When I had it all put together, I was unable to open the umbrella. After reading a bunch of reviews I learned why. MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE BUBBLE WRAP PACKAGING ON THE INTERIOR OF THE UMBRELLA CANOPY THAT HOLDS THE ARMS TIGHTLY CLOSED AND PREVENTS IT FROM OPENING! See pic. Take care not to cut the fabric during removal. The rest of the bubble wrap can be easily removed after opening the umbrella.Opening & Closing is a little different on the cantilever umbrellas. When you go to open it from a fully closed position, crank it clockwise until it is at least halfway open. Lift the handle upward to the next locked position or higher and then fully open the umbrella. To close it, crank the handle counterclockwise until you no longer see it closing. Lower the handle to the lowest position and continue to close the umbrella until there is no more movement. It will not look like it is closed but at this point you wrap the straps around the umbrella & pole and you're done. I purchased a Patio Umbrella Cover for 9ft to 13ft here on Amazon for $30 which was the perfect length to cover the umbrella over the winter time.I really like how well built this umbrella is and how easy it is to use. This umbrella deserves a higher rating. Some reviewers gave it a 1 star because a heavy duty base was not included. To be fair, the company clearly states in the description "this item does not include the base in the picture. In order to stabilize the umbrella, you'd better to buy a suitable base separately". There are various base styles and and needs so it does not make sense to include a base with the umbrella at a higher price point that someone may not like.Overall, this is an amazing umbrella.
