If I would have to choose from hundreds of CDs I like, this would be it, the one I would pick for my desert island!I think Vol. 1 is even stronger than Vol. 2, with two extended tracks among them: the Temptation's classic "Masterpiece" (13:20 min) is a truly such, where Grover Washington shows all his talent in his third album under his own name; sidemen like Eric Gale, Bob James, Hubert Laws find their parts to show off their talents and solo nicely! Track 2 is Marvin Gaye's "Trouble Man" (15:55 min), which is a gem, too!Together with Volume 2 of the Soul Box and the newly re-issued "Inner City Blues" (his first; what a great album, too!!!) you'll have the best Grover Washington Jr. ever did. Creed Taylor as a producer did a fantastic job creating some corner stones of early "Fusion" (of Jazz and Soul and Funk).
