Professionals use these because they are some of the flattest most detailed set of cans in their price range that offer clarity, efficient isolation, operational longevity, and a wide frequency response. These are passive monitors without a built in amplifier so they are not loud like battery powered commuter/fashion headphones. The silver lining regarding a renewed pair is most people do not understand this concept. These headphones require an external amplifier for more volume, or professional gear that sends a more powerful signal. Also the drivers are tight when new and require a break in/burn in before they are at full potential. So people listen to them once on their smart phone and return them. AT covered the metal headband with plastic on this model and upgraded to a locking 2.5mm detachable connector. The headset comes in a storage case with both straight and coiled cables as well as a shorter travel friendly straight cable. The only issue I have with this model is AT abandoned the insert sleeve earpad and added a framed snap-in earpad design. If you want to upgrade or replace the pads, cut the plastic frame from the stock pads and wrap the new pads' insert vinyl around it. You will then have to move the vinyl out of the way for each snap tab for it to lock in place. It is quite a task but holds the replacement pads better than previous models. DO NOT REMOVE THE DRIVERS to replace the pads like that guy shows you on the youtube video. It is unnecessary. This is my work pair so they never leave my mixing desk and I am very pleased with the purchase.
