I absolutely love the Tony Bose sowbelly knife pattern (TB6339). It is, by far, my favorite pocket knife pattern. This particular Case looked to be pretty close to my ideal folder as I absolutely love the natural bone covers and shield on this model. However, upon arrival of the product the blade was disappointingly dull. I have a number of Case knives and the factory never puts a great edge on them (high dollar knife makers like GEC don’t put a great factory edge on theirs either - which I don’t hold against them), but this one was exceptionally bad.I returned the first one and grabbed another here on Amazon. The second one had a typical factory edge but the bolsters are scuffed and the shield is too. There’s also a little nick in the bone directly around the shield and, though it’s small, I can’t unsee it. Every time I handle the knife my eyes are drawn straight to it. As of this writing I am undecided about whether to exchange the knife again or return it all together. I love what this knife could be, but so far Case is 0 for 2. Four stars because it’s still a beautiful and well made product - I’m just going to chalk this up to bad luck.—Update: So, I’ve now handled 3 of these knives and it seems the nick around the shield is simply a staple of this design. It’s always in the same place and must have something to do with the way these particular knives are constructed. I’ve changed my mind about it and embraced the natural unfinished look. Each of these knives have truly unique scales and, rather than return them, I’ve decided to keep 2 of them. Each is beautiful in its own way. I don’t like that the bolsters were scuffed on one of them, but they’ll get scuffed over time anyway so I’m not gonna be that picky about it.Case’s prices have gone up considerably over the past few years. However, they still make a quality product at a competitive price. I own a number of Case knives and if you want to collect quality American made pocket knives as a hobby, Case is the best combination of quality and price. There is some blade rub on this knife, but that’s a common issue with the sowbelly pattern - and really any pocket knife with more than 2 blades. If you don’t like it, don’t buy a sowbelly. Personally, the sowbelly is my favorite pattern, but it’s not for everybody - especially super picky collectors who want their blades eternally shiny and perfect.
