I also hope this show becomes more about the characters which have really good chemistry and the writing is witty. The sci fi component with the super powers is done well, and mostly explained with nonsensical technobabble. If you care that those kinds of things make sense or aren't ridiculous you might evaluate the technical accuracy of this show on the level of Fringe, for better or for worse. From the pilot I get the impression that this show is really all about the cast and the writing. This is not a Heroes, which at first was a fun mystery but after the first season just kind of outstayed its welcome. If there are any mysteries in Alphas, they're macguffins driving character development.Network production quality, does not at all seem like a cheap cable show. They're spending money on this show, although the special powers are such that they don't really need a lot of expensive CG. Nobody is opening any vortexes to another dimension or lifting buildings with thoughts in this show. The powers are all very low key stuff. Enhanced perception, persuasion, fast reflexes. This show is great for all the right reasons, and I hope syfy will keep it around, even though it isn't wrestling. I doubt this show will appeal to young teens, SfyFy's mainstay, so not sure if it will have staying power.
