Sony MDR X10 X-Series Over-the-Ear Headphones with Noise Isolation - Black | Premium Sound Quality for Music, Gaming & Travel

I spent some time in the store listening to various brands of headphones, namely Beats by Dr. Dre, Bose, and Sony. I didn't have a whole lot of time and had to listen to their canned demo music, but right off the bat I felt that the Sony MDR-X10 headphones sounded the best. The music just sounded "warmer" (i.e., the opposite of harsh). So I bought a pair of these headphones and paired them with the Audio Engine D1 external DAC (connects to your PC through USB and provides a high quality digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and headphone pre-amp). Bought both on Amazon. I'm really happy with these headphones. They produce really tight, heavy duty bass, and basically very clear sound in the mid-range and high frequencies. Also, the closed design does a great job of sealing in the sound and helps with the bass too. Note that these are "on-ear" headphones, but the ear pad is soft so they're very comfortable to wear. They feel like they wrap around your ear rather than sitting on top of it. Overall, these are the best headphones I've ever owned.
