The two boxes (menus A and B) arrived with flaps sealed and bands around each box, as well as two other bands tying the two boxes together. Everything looks as expected with no evidence of tampering. I don't have any plans to open them now.The boxes were packed in March 2018 with a March 2021 inspection date. These were the most recent I could find on Amazon. Searches for "MRE 2022" turned up only these and older ones. Based on previous research, I consider properly stored MREs to last at least 5 years. So, these should last until 2023 or 2024.I had gotten a similar set in July 2016, packed in June 2014. Because of the projected 5-year usage date, I started eating them last fall. I still have 9-10 left, having eaten the most recent one about a week ago. They are more than adequate, although I don't consider them a gourmet meal. The taste is acceptable. So, it is quite possible that they can last longer than 5 years. These are now into their 6th year. I keep them stored where the temperature stays around 75 degrees.The only issue I have is the cost. The previous order of 2-year-old MREs was about $190. These 2-year-old MREs coast $300. I realize the current pandemic has driven up prices. So, these newer meals cost $12.50 each versus $7.92 for the older ones, both 2 years old when I bought them. Of course, I could have bought some older ones at a lower cost, but I wanted the longer shelf life.In an emergency, these 24 meals could get me by for 3+ weeks as my main meal.
