I use this in podcasting with a Heil PR40 dynamic mic into an analog mixer. The mute switch is between the two. Its a momentary contact push button - I have to hold it down to mute, release for normal broadcasting. It operates silently in my setup.I wish it had a red LED to indicate when it was muting so others in the studio could know the device's state of operation. But it works fine with my non-powered mic.
