Easier said than done, especially when one has a sweet tooth!The hardest part for me is that, like most Americans, I was in the habit of desiring something sweet after dinner.I had tried Starwest licorice sticks, but they were terrible. No flavor, nothing appealing about them.I saw that these had very good reviews, so I decided to give them a try.They REALLY helped me (and I still use them on occasion) to have something sweet in place of sugar.Most of the sticks are slightly sweet and enjoyable to use.Some of them are more bitter than I would like (if you hate licorice, you will not like these LICORICE sticks).Also, sometimes a few non-splintering pieces will come off, which you have to remove from your mouth and that's annoying.Overall though, they have been great for me in cutting out sugary treats from my life entirely.Very pleased with them!(One note: I happen to have blood pressure that's on the low side, so the fact that any true licorice can raise blood pressure isn't an issue for me. It does say don't use these if you have high blood pressure. I don't know if there is really enough licorice here for them to raise blood pressure, but if you do have high blood pressure, I think you definitely should NOT use these.)Didn’t help quit smoking but tasted goodI like the idea of these more than the product. I just did not like the taste or feel in my mouth and it left an after taste that lasted a long time. Just not for me.It tastes good and is satisfying to chew on. I wish they were shaved down more because a few of the sticks were only have shaved. It's just not right for me though. The strings gets stuck between two teeth and under one of the bridges I have in the back and drive me up the wall. It's only happened 4 times in about 6 sticks but it's enough that I can't really enjoy the product.The sticks don’t last very long so you will go through a pack quickly. For the price I’d expect more, especially when it says 10 sticks and I only received 9 in each pack I bought. They are helpful with not vaping though.Takes a little getting used to but if you are a smoker, every time you choose a Kicstick, that is one less cigarette!Also, once we get back to going mask-free,Kicsticks are going to be a great conversation starter!I smoked for a good part of my adult life. I looked and looked for a product to help with the oral fixation. When I discovered licorice root chew sticks, it was a game changer! Whenever i have the urge to smoke I grab a stick to help him make it through cravings.The sweet flavor of licorice was a much better idea then chewing on a cinnamon stick, pen or pencil.I'm now a "NON SMOKER" ! If a craving presents itself or I just need something to chew on, I always keep my Kicstick's within reach.I was looking for something to keep my mouth occupied and this tastes great but I destroyed each stick in less than 7 minutes… I needed something longer lasting… I turned to churpi…I bought both the kicksticks and a bag of organic licorice sticks and for the same price ; with kicksticks you get 20 perfect debarked sticks - compared to 30 sticks of roughly the same size sticks. I am totally happy paying the slight premium for the perfect straight and prepped sticks as they are very hard so the prepped and pealed sticks makes them easy to use/start.Very happy camper.I bought these sticks as licorice root is a healthier alternative to nylon tooth brushes. I hope that my dog will also chew on one to help with her mouth health.I didn't realize these were so woody but what I do is break off an inch-long piece and just suck on it like candy. The root softens up and eventually you can chew it to a pulp. Shave off the bark portions of course. I really enjoy the flavour. You could also make tea with these.I bought the licorice sticks for a bad cough - i love the handy metal container they came in so i could carry them around… the presentation was nice and yes it did help me with my terrible bronchial coughAs others suggest the skinning leaves a bit to be desired. Without doing so it can be a bit bitter.
